Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Phase 3 (June 21-23, 2013)

During beta phase 3 part 1 on June 14 to 16, 2013, I was able to level my pugilist (PUG) to 15 and was happy with the progress and fast pace of the game. I was so looking forward to part 2 of beta phase 2 on June 21 to 23rd, 2013 as I had a lot things planned for my PUG.

Beta phase 3 part 2 started on Friday, June 21st, 2013 at 5am EDT so to maximize my play time, I woke little bit early and played for 1 hour before I had to get ready for work. Of course, my wife was not thrilled that I woke up early to play games but oh well….. she could deal with it :).

When I logged in, I managed to get into a party for my next main story quest which was 4-person instance : Sastasha. The quest itself was pretty straightforward and all we had to do was going through the dungeon, killed the pirate captain and the void monster. The pirate captain was pretty easy but the void monster was not so much. It could spawn additional monsters from unnatural ripples unless we clicked on the ripples to prevent the monster from spawning. It took few tries before we finally beat the boss, Denn the Orcatoothed (of course, I forgot to take some screenshots during the fight itself 😦 ). From the boss’ loot, I got my first unique-untradable item Foestriker’s Skirt.

Our party at Sastasha consists of PUG, GLA, ARC and CNJ.

Did another Sastasha run with a different party. We were getting ready for the boss fight and it took us few tries before we finally beat Denn the Orcatoothed.

Next instance is The Tam-Tara Deepcroft (TTD) and it’s part of main quest. I had bit of hard time finding the NPC who started the quest.

TTD instance was pretty straightforward and was fairly easy. Our group were able to complete in one try. With this quest, we needed to destroy all cultist orbs. There’s nothing particularly difficult with this instance and everything went pretty smoothly. Our party was able to finish it within 25 minutes.

Copperbell Mines was next instance as part of main story after TTD.

The boss of Copperbell Mines instance is Kottos and it’s a tough one because it spawned minions which were also tough. Our party was able to beat the mission by focusing on Kottos alone and ignored other minions.

After xth, mission was accomplished.

Our next mission is to beat Ifrit, one of Primals. It’s literally best custscene in FFXIV: ARR Beta
ffxiv 2013-06-22 21-24-06-80
Obviously, Ifrit was not easy and it took our group at least 5 tries, if not, more to beat Ifrit. One party member decided to ‘accidentally’ get disconnected.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Phase 3 has started on June 14th, 2013. Since I was v1.0 user and Beta phase 2 user, I automatically gained access to Beta Phase 3. During Beta Phase 3, all characters reset back to level 1 and you can import your character’s look from V1.0.  Overall, I am extremely pleased with how it looks so far and it feels much more complete in comparison to Beta Phase 2.

Square-Enix finally removed all NDA (non-disclosure agreement) in relation to posting screenshots/text about FFXIV: A Realm Reborn which I confirmed in the beta forum + official usage license agreement page. Starting from Beta Phase 3, users can post screenshots/text anywhere online. Video/Audio streaming is still not allowed though which I am totally fine with.

As a former Mithra (or Mantra) in FFXI, I easily picked Miqo’te as my race. I had fun in previous phases playing as a Lancer so I thought I would give Pugilist a try. My character name is ‘Haruka Niimi’ and is taken from Photo Kano. The name that I wanted is Sakura Kinomoto but it’s taken already. Asuna Yuuki was also taken already :(. Without further ado, enjoy these screenshots from FFXIV: A Realm Reborn Beta Phase 3 and let me know if you have any questions.

English Version

Japanese Version

Earlier today, Square-Enix released a new trailer of upcoming Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in light of E3 event that’s currently going. In this new trailer, FINAL FANTASY XIV “CRYSTAL’S CALL”, Square-Enix shows off few avatars/summons such as Ifrit, Garuda, Titan and many more new footage that’s never seen before. Getting excited ? who does not, right ? ^^. I really cannot wait for this game.

PS: Beta phase 3 starts this Friday. If you haven’t signed up, you may want to do so ^^.

Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is coming to Playstation 3 in 2014

Hideo Baba, producer of Tales series,  just announced at Tales of Testival that Tales of Symphonia and Dawn of the New World sequel are coming back in HD pack on Playstation 3. It’s going to be released this year in Japan in October 2013  Symphonia: Unisonant Pack and in 2014 internationally as Tales of Symphonia Chronicles. Note that Tales of Symphonia Chronicles is just a working title and it’s not been finalized what the international version is going to be.

Tales of Symphonia was originally released for Nintendo GameCube on 2003 in Japan and was localized in NA and Europe on 2004 then later on, it’s ported to Playstation 2 in 2004. Sequel of Tales of Symphonia, Dawn of The New World, was released on Wii on 2008 for Japan, NA and Europe.

You can check Hideo Baba’s announcement below.

Since I never got a chance to play both titles, this is a great announcement to me and I am sure that’s the case for die hard Tales fans. Much love for  Baba-san for re-releasing both games on PS3. Here’s hoping for localization of Tales of Vesperia on PS3 … … … >.> <.< >.< right… like that it’s going to ever happen.
