A hacker or hackers had attacked Hobby Search server early this month and as many as 23,526 credit cards information have been compromised for orders prior to July 7. They switched to a more secure transaction that only allows them to store the last four digits of a credit card number after July 7. Even though they don’t store personal identification number or security on the back of your credit card, the damage has been done and malicious acts on your credit card may occur.
Timeline of events as below (directly quoted from Hobby Search):
October 6 – A system administrator found traces of attacks from Korea and began investigating immediately. That night, we contacted an external security firm to investigate.
October 7 – The external examiners began investigations in the morning. We shut off our systems for emergency maintenance, reinstalled all server operating systems and software, re-examined security settings, and isolated the server.
Logs indicated that customer data had been sent out from our server to the address of an institution in Korea.
We contacted that institution by phone and email about this incident and confirmed that the data had been deleted. We believe that they were used as a proxy.
October 8 – We revised program, network, firewall, and client machine security and implemented an intrusion detection system.
October 12 – We contacted the credit card transaction handler and began discussions about the course of action.
October 20 – The external investigators concluded their investigations and determined which and how much data had been accessed.
October 28 – With the results of the investigation and cooperation of credit card companies, we are ready to handle customer correspondence and have sent out email notifications to the customers that may have been affected.
If you purchased items from Hobby Search prior to July 7, please check your credit card statement to ensure that there is no suspicious charges. If you do find suspicious charges, contact your credit card company as soon as possible.
Because of this incident, Hobby Search is no longer accepting credit card and it’s been suspended indefinitely, thus, I believe the only available option is PayPal. Now, the question is will you still buy from Hobby Search ? For me, I completely lost my trust in the company because I expected that something like this should never happen in the first place. I am going to cancel all my preorders with Hobby Search and going with HLJ or Amy Amy. It may sound harsh but it’s for the best.
ACG North America organized a cosplay photoshoot at High Park, Toronto this past weekend. It was my first time attending a cosplay photoshoot and had a great time. Here comes the photo dump and I hope you guys enjoy it :). Special thanks to Sakura cosplayer who’s willing to stand still under the sun while we, photographers, took her pictures.
It was the first cosplay photoshoot event that I have ever attended and certainly it won’t be the last. It looks like there will be another similar event on December called Toronto Cosplay Skating. Check out this original thread on cosplay.com and facebook event.
Fortune Arterial is originally made by August in form of a visual novel. It was released back on January 2008 for PC and makes its debut as an anime in this fall 2010 anime season.
Summary
Kohei Hasekura lives his childhood life by transferring from one school to the other because of his parents but it all comes to an end when his parents send him to a school with a living dorm so he does not have to move with him. Kohei is excited about his new school life and his new friends. However, his new school life at Shuchikan Gakuen is not without its own problems and there seems to be a hidden secret about the true nature of some of its students.
As Kohei arrives at Shuchikan Gakuen, Erika Sendo, student council vice president, greets him with a warm smile and open hand then out of sudden, she starts screaming and backs down as she was about to hand-shake Kohei. Luckily, Tsukasa Hachimandaira passes by and Erika tells him to show Kohei around the school. She runs away blushing and when she finally comes to stop , her body is still shaking/trembling with excitement.
Tsukasa shows Kohei around the school and brings him to living dorm where all students live. Floor one and two belongs to boys and floor three and four belongs to girls. Boys are not allowed to go to girls section but I doubt that it will stop him from doing so ^^;;. In this dorm, Kohei meets two of his childhood friends, Haruna Yuuki and her older sister Kanade Yuuki. Accidentaly, energetic Kanade is the dorm manager. Later that night, Kanade is having a tea party in her room talking about her childhood friend , Kohei, who just arrives at Shuchikan Gakuen.
The next day, during lunch, Kohei is given a map of the school and a task where he needs to take a picture of every building in this school. He bumps into Togi Soichiro, an underclassman, who is busy chasing her rabbit, Yukimaru. It runs away into the flower fields and fortunately, Kohei captures Yukimaru who happens to be running to his direction. Grateful for Kohei’s effort in catching Yukimaru, Togi shows the way to Student Oversight Building where student council resides.
Iori Sendo, student council president, loves to play prank and he intentionally invites Kohei for a tea time despite the fact that her sister, Erika, is there and for some reasons, she feels uneasy being near Kohei. To make matters even worse, Iori switches the sign between man and woman bathroom ^^;;.
Unknowingly, Kohei enters a woman bathroom and of course, Erika just finishes taking a bath. For a good couple seconds, both of them are speechless and Kohei tries to come up with an excuse but he fails terribly. You know saying “No! No! I meant the bath, when I said big!” does not exactly help in anyways ^^;; and as a gift, he gets a fine hand print of Erika.
Unfortunately, his misery does not end there as rumour spreads really quick and when Kanade hears this, she gives Kohei a discipline sticker which you can collect up to ten in order to receive a special punishment. When Kohei finds out that it’s all Iori’s fault, he still feels bad and needs to apologize to Erika, meanwhile, hearing what Kohei says, Erika takes the initiative and asks Kohei to meet at Zelkova tree which said to be able to grant any wish at five the next day.
On his way to Zelkova tree, Kohei gets distracted due to noises from the direction where a church is located. Surprisingly inside the church, he sees Iori sucking up blood from a student.
Thoughts
Even though Fortune Arterial is a well-known eroge and I own a towel with Erika on it, I never know what story is all about. Certainly, I didn’t expect it to be a vampire related story which can easily pique my interest by ten fold ^^;;. Yah I am such a sucker for vampire related anime ^^;;. Not much I can say about the story and which direction it goes. I figure there may be multiple endings since it’s an eroge. Anyone who have played the game before maybe can comment on the story plot ? ^^
One of the best thing about this anime is the OP and ED song. The opening was sung by Lia who I expect no less than awesome for a song by her. Can’t wait for the single to be released ^^. As for the ED, it’s nicely done and just plain beautiful. It gives this soothing feel every time I listen to it. Not to mention the ED animation just looks perfect with the song; all the girls wear a white lingerie laying down on top of water where you can see a reflection of each character. ❤ Hina’s expression in the ED song. I wouldn’t call it a sad expression but it feels like she’s mesmerizing someone; could it be Kohei ? ^^
Animation wise, I think ZEXCS and feel. did a great job and I notice a great details on each background but it’s only the first episode so if they can keep it up then I can say that they’ve done an awesome job. Quality in some series tend to go down as the series progresses.
Kohei, male protagonist, is voiced by Daisuke Ono whose voice should already be well-known to who has watched Kuroshitsuji since he voiced as Sebastian.
Overall, I think I will enjoy this series and will continue watching it ^^.

We tend to not get a long with our siblings for some reasons and treat them as annoyances but knowing and keeping each other’s secret, sometimes, can get you closer to your siblings just like in this particular anime: Ore no Imouto ga konnani kawaii wake ga nai
Summary
Kyosuke and Kirino are siblings to each other, however, all these past years, they are not that close and cold toward each. Kyosuke envies his sister accomplishment at school and many other things, on the other hand, Kirino does not even think that her brother even exists. One incident brings them closer together. One day, Kyousuke finds an anime DVD near the entrance of his house inside and becomes even more confused as he cannot figure it out who it belongs to since in his mind, no one in his house fits the description and has a potential of being on otaku. To make matter even worse is that the content of the DVD case is an eroge instead of just your normal anime DVD. It cannot be his parent and he cannot imagine his dad and mom are into anime at all, meanwhile, he cannot fit Kirino’s image to be an otaku.
During dinner, Kyosuke brings up anime related topic on purpose to find out to whom the DVD belongs to. His parents have no reaction at all, however, his effort is not all for nothing as Kirino acts very strangely and finishes her dinner early. Pretending to go to convenience store, Kyosuke purposely says out loud that he’s going to the store. As he just steps outside, he sees his room light being turned. He runs back upstairs as soon as possible and fins that his sister butt sticking out while Kirini’s looking for something behind underneath of his bed.
Kirino, who’s busted by her brother, still tries to deny that DVD does not belong to her at all, although, her reaction and word are totally opposite of each other. She says no and tries to grab the DVD from Kyousuke’s hand at the same time. Being a nice brother, he finally gives the DVD back to Kirino saying that he does not need it and wants her to throw it away for him in order to keep it a secret.
Later that night, Kirino wakes Kyosuke up by slapping him. She tells him that she needs a life consulting and needs him to go to her room. Inside her room, Kirino reveals her secret hobby that no one ever knows because she’s afraid of being called weird and being grouped in the same group as those otakus (even though she is an otaku ^^;).
Kyosuke is so shock to see her collection piling up high and wonders how she can afford all of this. Since Kirino works as a model, she has more than enough money to buy all those anime/eroge merchandise. It’s useless trying to understand why she buys all of those since it’s pretty normal to buy things that you like/adore without any other reasons.
Just when Kyosuke thought that it’s over and gets ready to sleep, he gets slapped again for the second time by Kirino. Poor Kyosuke is too late to back down now since Kirino is forcing him to play those eroge games and unfortunately for him, the obvious option for him to pick is not so correct in the eye of Kirino. A wrong answer is enough to earn Kyosuke a kick ^^;;. Regardless, Kirino looks happy now that she has someone to share her hobbies with …. forcefully ^^;.
Thoughts
Oreimo is an interesting twist between imouto and otaku genre/theme of an anime in which you rarely find those two themes in a single anime. Being a guy myself, it always piques my interest what girl otakus think, although, from this episode, I learned that girl otakus are not much different than guys. Endless spending spree on otaku good is common in both gender I guess ^^;;. I didn’t have any WTF moment like when I was watching Yosuga no Sora but Kirino is indeed adorable and cute and she is the main reason why I am planning to watch the series. The title of this anime truly speaks for itself.
OP song is pretty standard and nothing amazing or spectacular in term of animation and tune. It’s your generic Opening. The tune is always a fast beat one, happy and cheerful. Correct if I am wrong but there is no ending song in the first episode.
Two main protagonists are voiced by experienced seiyuu. Ayana Taketatsu who voices Kirino, is a rising star in the seiyuu world. Her voice acting recently involves more and more main characters. In this fall season alone, she has four or five on going anime series. Her career starts climbing up really fast after her role as Azusa Nakano in K-ON!. On the other hand, Kyosuke is voiced by Yuuichi Nakamura. For all Clannad fans, his voice is no stranger since he is the one who voiced Tomoya.

MM! has nothing to do with everyone’s favourite M&M candy nor M & M meat shop. With many new series starting this fall 2010 anime season, creators become more and more creative with title to gather viewers, don’t you think so ? MM! did catch my eye, not only the title is short but also it is used for other means. Nevertheless, I am intrigued to give this series a try.
Summary
As many other series, a summary usually starts “story is about <insert school grade> named <insert name> who is <insert character descriptions here>”. MM! is no exception as it tells you a story about a high schooler named Taro Sado who has a masochist personality and a big crush on a girl who comes frequently where he works part time. To cure his masochist personality, he joins 2nd Volunteer club leaded by Mio isurugi and so the story begins…
At a glimpse, Mio may look kind and care a lot about the problem that Taro’s having, however, it’s all just appearance as she does not like having all those kind of formalities when she talks to fellow students. Her hobby includes beat up other people including Taro.
Taro, who is being beaten, forgets his true intention of coming to this club and unknowingly he enjoys what Mio does to him. His face below speaks for itself as if he receives the ultimate pleasure from being beaten up. He is really a true masochist.
Mio, unaware of his masochist personality, continues her torture on Taro. It looks like this series is mainly about Taro is being beaten up by Mio in her attempt to cure Taro’s masochist personality.
Meanwhile, a shocking truth for Taro about his crush that it turns out to be Hayama Tatsukichi dressed as a girl. Hayama also went to 2nd volunteer club looking for advice whether or not that he should tell the truth about his hobby of crossdressing (damn trap >.>).
Thanks to Mio’s advice, Hayama can be true to himself, although, I feel sorry for Taro since his first love happened to be a guy ^^;;. Mio shows her sweet side and she’s blushing too when she’s happy that her advice helped
Taro’s day at 2nd volunteer club barely just started as Mio beats up / tortures him on daily basis.
Thoughts
After I watched the first episode, I feel like MM! story plot has a potential, although, scenes of Mio beating up Taro is little bit repetitive for my taste. Even though in each scene, Mio uses different tools to beat up Taro but after a while, it’s not even funny anymore ^^;;. The idea of masochism and trying to find a cure of it does peek my interest but scenes of Mio beating up Taro are just a tad too many (Maybe that’s why I couldn’t finish Toradora?)
OP and ED animation are little bit plain and they does not do what they are supposed to: to get viewers into the series. I skipped forward the OP on this first episode which is very unusual because I tend to watch OP for any new anime series, in particular, first episode. Both OP and ED songs are your usual music for this kind of series. They have a fast beat, cheerful and happy-like.
Seiyuu wise, both main protagonist is voiced by a well-known seiyuu. Jun Fukuyama voices Taro Sado and a lot of us are probably already familiar with his name since he’s quite well known. Meanwhile, Mio Isurugi is voiced by Ayana Taketatsu. A lot of us probably already heard her voice everyone’s favourite series, K-ON!, as Azusa Nakano. Both seiyuu does a great job as main protagonist especially Jun since he lives up to my expectation.
In term of character’s personality, Mio just reminds me too much Taiga in Toradora and they both are tsundere-like. I realize it’s too early to judge but this anime is just a copy of Toradora with minor changes. What do you think ?
Saber Alter ~Vortigern~ 1/7 scale PVC by Good Smile Company is finally available for preorder at various online retailers. This would be my second figure preorder for the year of 2011. I bet it’s going to be delayed; does anyone think so too ? Anyways, enjoy the pictures ^^ and hurry up preorder before it runs out.
Fall 2010 anime line-up is really friggin awesome and I already have more than five in my current watch list. Fall anime season is really truly the best among other anime seasons in my opinion. Today, we are going to talk another new anime series in this Fall called Yosuga no Sora. The anime was based on an eroge with same title created/released by Sphere in 2009. WARNING: Exposed oppai ^^
Summary
The story is about a twin of brother and sister named Haruka Kasugano and Sora Kasugano. Due to recent accident, they lost both of their parents and decide to move back to the country side where they used to live. They plan to start their new life in the country side. They thought they can start their new life peacefully but between Sora wanting her brother for herself alone and many other girls who have a crush on Haruka, life is not so peaceful after all ^^
Despite recent loss of his parent, Haruka tries to be a dependable brother for his weak and fragile sister. On the other hand, Sora just wants to be with her brother all the time and is happy not doing anything other than being with her brother. Hmm brother complex much ?
Opening song and anime are pretty average and standard. it does not give me the feeling of awesomeness and impress me in anyway. I guess it’s expected as much since the animation studio, feel., is pretty much not well-known. However, I do love character design and I think Sphere did a good job. I have never heard of Sphere before since I am not into the eroge world but does anyone know other eroge by the same company ?
First couple minutes into the series, Sora’s character really captivates me and annoys me at the same time. I guess I can say that she is pretty selfish ^^;; and cold but maybe she can be a tsundere over time ^^.
Any anime series that has a setting in a country side always have a nice background like Yosuga No Sora for example. Don’t you love the look of Sora below ?
Being back in your home town, you can never avoid meeting with your childhood friends again and fortunately (or unfortunately), all Haruka’s childhood friends and girls around him seem to have a crush on him in one way or the other. It should be interesting to see how Sora manages to make his brother as her one and only.
After getting a bike so he can carry his sitter instead of walking, Haruka stops by at his new high school. There is nothing out of the ordinary other than all his childhood friends are in the same school.
The next day, he introduces himself nervously in front of his class and it’s a rather plain introduction by him. His sister, Sora, still cannot go to school yet due to her weak body.
At home, while waiting for her brother to come back from school, Sora’s looking at a photo album when they were a kid and their parents were still alive.
While reminiscing about the past, she remembers of being kissed by his brother while they were playing. Attention readers, this is WTF #1 in this series. I didn’t expect it at all since most anime series, it usually happens between unrelated by blood brother and sister (For example, Kiss X Sis and Da Capo) but not in Yosuga No Sora. Very interesting ….. indeed.
Another girls that have taken interest on Haruka are Akira Amatsume and Kazuha Nigiwa. They both come from a respective family. Akira is a shrine maiden in a sacred shinto shrine while Kazuha is your standard Ojou-sama like character.
The class representative, Kozue Kuranaga, also seems to have a crush with Haruka as her face turns red when she’s talking to him.
Kasuganos’ twins new neighbour, Nao Torihime, also has a crush on Haruka and not only that, she seems to like him for a very long time and on the other hand, Haruka is also taken interest in Nao. Haruka, Sora and Nao used to play together when they were kids
Another WTF moment here and it’s number two. Sora’s having a day dream about kissing her brother. Didn’t know that she has such an ecchi mind ^^;;.
Btw, there is no censorship in this anime. No cloud, smoke, sunlight or anything at all… nada. You can enjoy oppai-ism at its best ^^.
Later that night, Sora wastes no time and launches her attack by taking of her pijamas ^^;; and said that she wants to come. Ahhh, I wonder what it means ^^.
This is probably just one of Sora’s dream, although, it’s better if it’s not just a dream ^^;;. I mean twincest may be happening right ? I am sure a lot of us are looking forward to it. Oh my, this series has a lot of harem scenes in it.
As I was about to recover from earlier WTF moment, I was treated with another one ^^;;. Not that I am complaining but I rarely have these many WTFs from watching one episode. Toward the end , another scene that gives a WTF moment is seeing Motoka Nogisaka, the maid of Kozue Kuronaga, is having ‘fun’ and treating herself quite a ‘treat’ ^^;;
Thoughts
Yosuga no Sora turns out to be much better then I expected. Sora is just adorable and has a potential to be a tsundere character ^^. Story wise, it has a great potential because just from watching the first episode, it’s clearly there’s something going on between Haruka and Sora when they were kids. Haruka may already have forgotten about it but Sora still remembers as clearly as it were yesterday. Multiple WTF moments are a good indication for to the series is promising and twincest situation is the first one that I have seen to go to this extend.
Welcome back to my loyal readers to my ‘First Impression’ post and welcome to new readers. I hope you guys enjoy this post. As gloomy as it will be with all rainy days during this fall season, bunch of new animes start airing this past week which should brighten up everyone’s day (or ruin one’s day if it turns out to be a disappointment ^^;).
First in my watch list is Bakuman. The series is based on the manga which I highly recommend my readers to give it a try if you cannot wait until the next episode, otherwise, sit still and enjoy the series. My friends have been recommended me the manga for couple times but I have never gotten to read it until I watched this first episode.
Summary
The series start with an interesting opening which I thought it was the real opening ^^;; because I had my ‘WTF’ moment with the character designs, however, it turns out the real opening comes after. Warning: Hero Legends’ song is stuck in my head for a day and it’s just that catchy. Don’t say that I didn’t warn you before hand ^^.
The opening anime is nicely done as expected from J.C. Staff and the song is pretty catchy. I am liking it already ^^ but I am not familiar with the band who sings the song. They are called Kobukuro. Does anyone ever heard them before ?
The story is about two middle school students who are aiming to be a manga artist. One is responsible for the drawing and the other one is responsible for the story. Both of them together is made into one team.
One of the main protagonist is Moritaka Mashiro. He is in 3rd year of middle school and is your average student. Not too smart but not an idiot either ^^;;. His life is pretty much undecided because he does not know which high school he wants to go or what he wants to do.
He has a huge crush on this girl named Miho Azuki in his class for the longest time. Both of them seems to like each other but none of them has courage to tell the other what he/she feels.
The other main protagonist is Akito Takagi. He is a genius and is always in the top rank at school, however, instead of having the usual path of being an office employee, he wants to write a manga.
Since he does not know how to draft, he wants to team up with Moritaka. It was not easy to persuade Moritaka to team up with him because for Moritaka, being a manga artist is just a gamble. It’s either you hit or you miss. Not to mention his uncle used to be a manga artist and died because of overwork.
When he was a child, his uncle told him the reasons why he wanted to be a manga artist and yes….. that’s correct; a manga artist is equal to popular with girls.
Later that night, Akito called Moritaka and told him that he’s going to Miho’s house to confess. There he goes being dragged by Akito to Azuki’s house.
Apparently none of them has experience in press a girl’s home door bell and Akito’s hand is shaking like crazy ^^.
Guess what Akito tells Miho ? He didn’t declare his love or anything but he tells her that he is going to become a manga artist
This is the first time that Moritaka ever talks to Miho in many many years.
Unexpectedly, Miho is very excited that both of them are going to be manga artist after Moritaka learns that she’s aiming to be a voice actress.
In the middle of conversation, Moritaka’s thinking about what his uncle told him quite a while ago and he accidentally asks Miho something really unexpected.
Three seconds after Moritaka realizes what he just said and ‘Despair’ is the most appropriate for the above screenshot ^^;;. I laughed my @$$ off during this scene since I totally didn’t see that coming and I feel like I will be enjoying Bakuman
Moritaka and Miho are meant for each. Guess what her answer is looking at the above picture ?
Moritaka is so fired up and swears that he will become a manga artist no matter what so that he can marry Miho.
Thoughts
I find Bakuman is very interesting and unusual in comparison to what I usually watch these days. I think it’s still in the same genre or close related to Genshiken which is a slice of life, however, instead of focusing on otaku aspect, this series looks at the life of a manga artist in general and not only in Japan so it’s a good learning experience for those who wants to become a manga/comic artist and you can ask yourself if you are mentally and physically ready ^^;;
Animation wise, I have no complaints since it’s done by J.C. staff after all so the quality is high as expected. I also noticed a similarity in character design between Bakuman and Death Note and found out later that they both are written the same author. No wonder there is a ‘Death Note’ reference in this first episode.
Romance between Moritaka and Miho peeks my curiosity on how it will develop. They promise not to see each other until their dreams come true and only use text messaging and email. Not sure how’s that going to work out but kinda exciting to see what happen between those two.

After a lot of rage in previous chapter (read: Miria), we found ourselves back with the rest of the crew: Helen, Deneve and Dietrich who are on their way back to Holy City of Labona notice many presence of youmas and awakened ones in the Holy City. The city is under attacked and youmas and awakened ones are running rampart around the city. The city defense army, led by Galk and Sid, gets their plate busy with bunch of youmas and tries to slow down using projectiles and with the help of Miata and Clarice.
Meanwhile, Tabitha and Galatea are being occupied by endless awakened beings coming toward their way one after another. Their breath sounds heavy and it’s a sign that they have had been fighting for a while without a rest. Despite having no sight, Galatea is still as strong as ever with her youki manipulation and having a former title of #3 is not just for a show after all, however, fighting multiple awakened beings at the same time pushes her to her limit.
As Galatea is in a pinch, a Claymore flies and kills one of the awakened beings behind her and she proceeds to cut the arm off the awakened being in front of her. Cynthia and Uma have arrived at the Holy City of Labona. Meanwhile, Tabitha is also in a difficult situation because not only she has to fight with an awakened being but she also has to defend a mother and her child behind her. Luckily, Helen comes at the right moment and saves the mother and her child from falling as the house they are currently in crumbles. At the same time, Deneve comes to rescue and stops an attack on Tabitha.
With the arrivals of the rest of of the team, they manage to survive in this grim situation and the fight is finally over. There are no victims from the city defense army even though there are quite a few wounded ones. They are very lucky to have these Claymores here defending the city with them.
Deneve was the first one to notice that Miria is not there and while being frustrated with the thought that Miria may be dead, she asks Tabitha where Miria is. Then Galatea comes to intervene and explains everything of what happened. Judging from the current situation, Miria’s attempt to destory the organization has failed and the organization decides to destroy the Holy City of Labona along with the Claymores residing in it.
After explaining what happened, it’s Galatea’s turn to notice that they are short by one person which is Clare. Sobbing with tears, Tabitha finds it hard to believe that Clare is also dead but suddenly someone yells that Clare is not dead.
Thoughts
For fellow readers who were hoping that Miria is still alive, your hope was for nothing as Miria is truly dead , otherwise, the organization would not have sent youmas and awakened beings to Labona trying to eliminate all Claymores. Some readers found it hard that Miria is dead but at this point, regardless of any speculation, there is no way that Miria is still alive (unless Yagi decides to mess around with us, the readers).
Meanwhile, there is still a possibility that Clare is still alive since she’s being absorbed and Cynthia still can feel her presence in couple chapters back. I believe at this point, Claymore is leaning towards the ending and all out fight with organization will not be avoidable in the near future.
PS: I am still on rage with how Miria ends up in the previous chapter >.<
