Website layout changes

Image is totally unrelated but everyone seems to adore Mio Akiyama from K-ON! ^^. Anyways, some small layout changes and additions as you may already notice:

• 5 latest posts in the header from Anime, Figures, Events and Otaku category.
• Remove the Day/Month on the left side beside the post title and put it right under Author name.
• Move RSS feed links to top right corner of the header.
• Add ‘Links’ page and remove the it from the home page.

To do list ( When I am not lazy ):

• Display list of posts on the homepage with thumbnails-like.
• Display RSS feed for fellow bloggers randomly in the links page.
• Redesign the whole website (sometime in the future >.>).
• Increase the width for the post column so I can display somewhat larger images.

Updates:

• Add rss feed link for each latest post category (you guys should see the rss icon right beside category name)

Hatsune Miku : World is Mine

Once again, I tried to convince myself that I am not a Miku fan and obviously,  I failed miserably because as a figure collector, I couldn’t miss out an awesome figure by an awesome manufacturer. Most of us have been waiting for this figure to be available for pre-order since it’s reasonably priced compare to Black Rock Shooter. This is probably my first time seeing a figure inside a photo frame. I couldn’t recall any figures with similar concepts but then I just started collecting about a year. Anyone recall any figures with similar concepts and unique ones ?

Upgraded to WordPress 2.7.1

I spent sometimes this morning to upgrade my very outdated wordpress 2.5.1 to wordpress 2.7.1 after a year since my last upgrade. The upgrade was pretty much painless and it took me about 1 hour from backing up my wordpress files and database to fully up and running with wordpress 2.7.1. I did one small mistake which was to deactivate all my plugins before I upgraded but luckily, all plugins seemed to be working fine (keeping my finger crossed). I followed exactly the WordPress’ guide for upgrading which can be found here.

The new design on the admin section is a lot nicer from before and I think it’s much easier to go from one page to the other. I haven’t played around with it much but I love the ‘Posts’ section since it utilizes the full screen of my monitor unlike before. I can easily see huge portion of my post ^^.

Anyways, let me know if you guys encountered some problems.

Suddenly Acquired Notebook (SAN)

As an otaku, our biggest enemy that drills a big hole on our wallet from time to time is impulse buying + countless SAFS (Suddenly Acquired FigureS). I believe it has happened to us all especially during otaku related events, for example, anime conventions, a place where price is no longer an issue as I would call it ^^. We all are drooling over those anime merchandise and figures.

Anime Bash @ North York Public Library

For this month of April, to promote reading and celebrate City of Toronto’s 175th Anniversary , City of Toronto and Toronto Public Library are collaborating a showcase called Keep Toronto Reading 2009. Many free events, performances and discussions are available at library branches and participating partners.

It was a long weekend in Toronto since we had a Good Friday so it’s a day off for majority of people. Not only that, it happened to be having nice and sunny weather in Toronto. It’s little bit windy though but there is no need for multi layers of clothing.

Photoshoot Preview

I went to Harbour Front in downtown Toronto for my next photoshoot preview on Friday morning. We had a Good Friday holiday here in Canada and the weather was quite nice ( around 10 C degrees and sunny ) so I decided to do outdoor photo shoot which I seemed to enjoy more than indoor.

Spring Anime 2009 Preview

Spring Anime 2009 is upon us and some of them already started on the past week. I know I am a little bit late on my Spring anime preview but better late than never right ?. There are quite a few series that sparks my interest, although, I still need to finish my back log of anime from previous fall/winter season.
