March Toronto Anime Con 2009

2009_animecon_mar21-22

Another small anime convention here in Toronto to warm us up before the big Anime North on May. The event is similar to DTAC (December Toronto Anime Con) that I attended back on December last year. More pictures below ^^.

Do you dare enough to buy her ?

The figure that we all (especially Fate’s fans) have been waiting for is finally available for pre-order. Fate T Harlaown – True Sonic Form by Alter is available at Hobby Search for a whooping price of 12,160 Yen (US$126.30 or CAD$151) so if we add shipping to that (US$25-$30) and border fee (US$20), the final price will be around US$175 (CAD$210). Is anyone else crazy enough and willing to fork out US$175 for this figure ?

More pictures below the cut.

Caren Hortensia 1/8 by Alter

dsc_2199

As I promised from my last preview post. my next photo shoot would be the lovely Caren Hortensia by Alter. Hearing the name Alter, we usually have our expectation set to high whether it would be the paint job, sculpt or the overal figure. So far, Alter has not disappointed me even once so will it meet my expectation ? let the pictures decide ^^.

This Week's Loot and Next Photo Shoot Preview

dsc_2245

As you all probably already know that I can never resist the temptation of getting any anime girl figures with a sword and the two figures above are no exception ^^. Kaori Kanzaki 1/8 by Kotobukiya (Yes I know it’s Koto but she has a sword, Koto or not does not matter to me ^^) so it should be interesting to find out if Koto does a good job on this one. Other figure is Clare from Claymore by MegaHouse. It’s pretty old figure but was re-released again last month.

I got Kanzaki Kaori for 6,460 yen and Clare for 5,225 yen from Hobby Search. Not a bad price for both but with the currency rate these days, they become quite expensive. Not to mention the cost of shipping and border fee. /sigh >.> Are you guys cutting back on your figure/figma spending during this recession ?

Meanwhile, I have been preparing for my next photo shoot. Check out who she is by clicking on read more.

Fate Stay/Night – Saber Gallery

Thanks to a DC member for sharing this pool of nice images of Saber at Moe Imouto. All original size of images can be found here. More Saber after the cut ^^. Continue reading “Fate Stay/Night – Saber Gallery”

Not a fan of Miku….but…..

Image via Hobby Search

I couldn’t resist but to pre-order Hatsune Miku Black Rock Shooter 1/8 scale by GSC. Despite of her small size, it’s going to cost me around $90 USD ($115 CAD) + shipping but then looking at the amount of details, the price tag is pretty reasonable.

There are only 2 stores to pre-order BRS. The first one is Hobby Search and the other is HLJ and she is still available in both stores so regardless if you are a Miku’s fan or not, BSR is definitely a worthy figure to be added to your collection.

Anime Expo 2009 Online Pre-Registration is available

ax2009

Anime Expo finally has its online pre-registration available at their website. You can read more about it here. Through their online pre-registration , you can buy 4-day ticket for $50 and get a free main event ticket on which I chose the Morning Musume concert if you book a hotel room through their system.

When I booked mine, only Westin Bonaventure hotel was available and the rates was US$145 per night for staying from July 2nd to July 5th. They also required US$165 deposit ^^;;. You would not be able to book the hotel directly as I already tried. When I called one of the hotels nearby LA convention centre, I was redirected to group sales manager who then proceeded to tell me that she couldn’t book me a room and I had to wait until AX had their online reservation up and running.

Max occupancy of the room is 4 person so if any fellow comrades is planning to come and does not have a place to stay yet, I am willing to share 😀 (save me some $$$ for figures lol).

Claymore Chapter 89 : Impossible Dream

Another month can only mean another Claymore manga chapter for all Claymore fans like me. Onemanga has the chapter up 2 days ago. Abyss feeders are not easy as we all thought based on previous chapters. Their ability to regenerate at a ridiculous speed gives Isley a hard time. Not to mention , aiming their heads will not necessarily kill them. Last month, I asked in a poll who will triumph between Abyss Feeders and Priscillia and most of you guys voted for Priscillia so I wonder after reading this chapter if your opinion will differ ^^. Last time my vote went for Abyss Feeder and stayed the same for the new poll.
